Awards and Honors

Chinese Exchange Student

Selected by Kent City Council to participate as a member of initial student delegation to Yangzhou, China; July 1995 – September 1995.

 

Japanese Exchange Student

Selected by Kent City Council to represent City of Kent in a one year exchange with their sister city, Kaibara, Japan; At the time of the exchange I did not speak any Japanese, and eagerly jumped at the chance to learn about a new culture and immersed myself in Japanese studies.  The time spent in Japan greatly influenced my overall worldview.

May 1996 – April 1997.

 

The Center for Holocaust Studies

During my time at Clark University (1997 to 1999), I was awarded a work-study position with their unique Center for Holocaust Studies under the guidance of Deborah Dwork.  I supported the office as a general office assistant in all ways they required.

   

Intern, Europe/Eurasia Studies

From May to August, 1999, I worked at the US Department of State, National Foreign Affairs Training Center as an Intern in their Europe/Eurasia Studies Department;
